FGB-5000 Mini tuning aids
Purpose
Home made small utility (beta) may be useful just to set the Yaesu FT-5000 frequency and mode from PC. I’m not a professional programmer so this is just one toy for my need and for my learning purpose.
Requirements
-
PC with Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or Windows 10. It should work also on Windows XP and Vista (never tested).
-
Microsoft Dot Net 4.0 Framework libraries (normally already installed in 99% of the computers today). If you don’t have it, you can download and install it for free from the Microsoft official web site at : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17851
-
CAT interface connected to the RTX (just a serial cable is enough).
-
RTX Yaesu FT-5000 (with latest firmware) connected to the PC via serial port (or via USB Serial Port emulator).
At hardware level, if you already have a computer connected to the RTX (for example for same Cat control program as Ham Radio Deluxe) you don’t need anything else.
Once downloaded, just put the EXE somewhere, where do you prefer, no need to install. You can run it just with a double click, No external libraries needed. If you don't like it, just delete it and it's gone (no need to unistall).
Usage
Select the serial port attached to the FT-5000.
Select the same baud rate as in the FT-5000 menu 032.
If your serial interface (or adapter) and your cable support hardware handshake, then you can flag RTS and set menu 034 di enable (most case this will be non flagged and menu 034 will be disabled).
Click Connect.
The RTX should now be connected and frequencies and modes should appears in the control panel.
It's all almost intuitive. The behaviour it's similar to that of the RIG front panel. There are just few tips you should know about how to tune the VFO's. Please read the Pdf guide for some additional information.
